This dwelling took a traditional contemporary style of a simple L shaped formation based around the sun orientation ensuring all the main living spaces had a plethora of sunlight seamlessly blurring the inside and outside areas. The external design is decorated with planting beds and log stores which added character to the dwelling.
The palette of materials was kept to a minimum using white render for the return block and a stone barn to the front. The front entrance is a double height glazed link between the two blocks with a step in the ridge line further defining the entrance. The use of slates to the roof is traditional with modern square chimneys to emanate the contemporary architecture. Finally, a square dormer to the stone block provides a functionable window to a bedroom beyond acting as a door with a Juliet balcony.
This traditional meets contemporary approach will secure the design from dating and blend into the rural countryside.
